STAR Consulting & Associates, LCC, STAR Consulting for the Workplace utilize the STAR technique—Simulate, Targeted Intent, Achievement, Resolve. Designed by practice leader, Ms. Janice A. Gnas, this technique is the foundation for all the company’s services. When discreet services are needed to pursue life transitions, the practice prides itself on transforming fear of growth into an adventure.
The practice leader, Ms. Gnas, is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC). She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology (M.S.) with an emphasis in professional counseling, education and training in the community. With many years of experience in the area of learning representation styles, Ms. Gnas is able to determine how an individual learns, how they process information, and their ability to adapt to change. In addition, she also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and possesses extensive knowledge in Organizational and Behavioral Development and coaching.
Ms. Gnas is well-qualified to help professionals set goals and manage change. Ms. Gnas provides Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services to a wide variety of companies, clients and their dependents. Affiliated with major healthcare organizations, she possesses over twenty years experience as a professional counselor in behavioral health and substance abuse treatment in Southeastern Wisconsin. Ms. Gnas’s clinical orientation includes:
- cognitive behavioral therapy - this approach emphasizes the important role of thinking, and determines how an individual feels and what they do
- solution focused therapy - a specific type of brief therapy, this approach focuses on how individuals envision their future, rather than focusing on their current problems.
Using both types of therapy, Ms. Gnas helps focus individuals to assess their strengths and weakness, in the moment, to allow them to move forward toward their future goal.
